DEGUM, ÖGUM, SGUM

Congress Presidents of the Three-Country Meeting Prof. Dr. med. Markus Hahn (Tübingen, Germany) and Dr. Hans-Peter Weskott (Hannover, Germany) in an interview.

The ultrasound method rapidly evolved during the past years. At the Dreiländertreffen of the expert associations DEGUM, ÖGUM and SGUM in Leipzig during the time from October 16th to 19th the newest scientific findings will be presented as well as there will be in-house training opportunities available under the motto "As specialist societies we have the duty to train doctor's of all medical fields and to foster science" so say the Congress Presidents Prof. Dr. med. Markus Hahn and Dr. Hans-Peter Weskott. Sonography is one of the most important and most used imaging techniques in medicine.

Ulrasound - More than an imaging method for doctors

Interdisciplinary experts meeting of the three German-speaking ultrasound societies in Leipzig

Despite the fire in May the Ultrasound Congress of the German, Austrian and Switzer Societies of Ultrasound (DEGUM, ÖGUM and SGUM) will take place during the time from 16th to 19th of October. The organizers were able to relocate the Three-Country Meeting at short notice to Leipzig. During four days experts discuss the most advanced and future oriented techniques and scientific result: new and established possible uses of contrast-enhanced ultrasound, significance of high-definition ultrasound equipment which enables precise surgery, new technical developments and methods with which tumors can be destroyed pinpointed and a lot more.

Aims and scope

Ultraschall in der Medizin / European Journal of Ultrasound publishes scientific papers and contributions from a variety of disciplines on the diagnostic and therapeutic applications of ultrasound with an emphasis on clinical application. Technical papers with a physiological theme as well as the interaction between ultrasound and biological systems might also occasionally be considered for peer review and publication, provided that the translational relevance is high and the link with clinical applications is tight. The editors and the publishers reserve the right to publish selected articles online only. Authors are welcome to submit supplementary video material. Letters and comments are also accepted, promoting a vivid exchange of opinions and scientific discussions.
